Aquaculture is the fastest growing form of food production in the world. It might seem like a help to protect wild seafood populations from over fishing but in reality such practices of raising fish in extremely confined environments is plagued with many problems surrounding these water-based concentrated animal feeding including pollution, disease and inferior nutritional quality.

Thus, farmed fish does not contain the omega 3 levels that you can expect from normal fish. They are contaminated with poly chlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) at levels as bad as 40 times more than other foods that raise health concerns. In addition the farm-raised fish have been shown to contain neurotoxins and carcinogens, industrial wastes, banned pesticide and few other prohibited pesticides! That is alarming!
